DNS Africa

. . . within and beyond, online.

ICANN Learn: What you need to understand.

On the ICANN Website, a page on what it does reads as follows:

“To reach another person on the Internet you have to type an address into your computer – a name or a number. That address has to be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN coordinates these unique identifiers across the world. Without that coordination we wouldn’t have one global Internet.”

To the average novice, the name ICANN packs very little effect. While so many countries in Africa are getting involved on the internet, more attention needs to be focused on Capacity Building. Thus, the need to understand what ICANN can do in Africa.

ICANN Learn is an online learning platform requested by and built for the global ICANN community. Courses cover the basics of what ICANN does, basic web skills, how to get involved with ICANN, and more.

The online learning platform developed and maintained for the ICANN community has been growing since inception in November 2013. Our role may have been forgotten but focus is more on the benefit for Africans. ICANN Learn is designed to make courses that are relevant and channeled to growing a strong internet community. The feature of the courses cut across visuals, quizzes, in-depth descriptions about important topics, and more.
